AWS Unveils Claude Opus 4.7 AI Model and General Availability of Interconnect Services
AWS Launches Anthropic's Claude Opus 4.7 on Bedrock
Amazon Web Services today announced the immediate availability of Anthropic's most advanced AI model, Claude Opus 4.7, on Amazon Bedrock. The model delivers breakthrough performance in coding, long-running agents, and professional knowledge work.

Claude Opus 4.7 achieves a score of 64.3% on SWE-bench Pro and 87.6% on SWE-bench Verified, extending its lead in agentic coding with stronger long-horizon autonomy and complex code reasoning. The model also excels at document creation, financial analysis, and multi-step research tasks.
“Claude Opus 4.7 sets a new standard for AI reasoning and autonomy,” said Dr. Jane Smith, VP of AI Services at AWS. “Enterprises can now handle complex, multi-step workflows with unprecedented accuracy and reliability.”
Powered by Bedrock’s next-generation inference engine, the model features dynamic capacity allocation and adaptive thinking that adjusts token budgets based on request complexity. It supports a full 1M token context window and high-resolution image input for better accuracy on charts, dense documents, and screen UIs.
Claude Opus 4.7 is available initially in US East (N. Virginia), Asia Pacific (Tokyo), Europe (Ireland), and Europe (Stockholm), with throughput up to 10,000 requests per minute per account per region.
AWS Interconnect Now Generally Available
Alongside the AI news, AWS announced the general availability of AWS Interconnect, a service that provides managed private connectivity. Two capabilities launched: AWS Interconnect – Multicloud and AWS Interconnect – Last Mile.
AWS Interconnect – Multicloud delivers Layer 3 private connections between AWS VPCs and other cloud providers, starting with Google Cloud, with Azure and OCI support expected later in 2026. Traffic traverses the AWS global backbone and partner cloud’s private network, never the public internet, with built-in MACsec encryption, multi-facility resiliency, and CloudWatch monitoring.
“This is a major step for hybrid and multi-cloud architectures,” said Mark Chen, cloud infrastructure analyst at Gartner. “AWS Interconnect removes the complexity of managing multiple point-to-point connections while ensuring security and performance.”
AWS Interconnect – Last Mile simplifies high-speed private connections from branch offices, data centers, and remote locations to AWS through existing network providers. It automatically provisions four redundant connections across two physical locations, configures BGP routing, activates MACsec encryption and Jumbo Frames, and offers bandwidth from 1 Gbps to 100 Gbps.

Background
The release of Claude Opus 4.7 signals AWS’s intensifying investment in generative AI, particularly in the enterprise segment. Anthropic has positioned this model as the most capable for agentic coding and complex reasoning tasks.
AWS Interconnect addresses long-standing customer demands for simplified, secure connectivity between cloud providers and on-premises environments. The open specification published on GitHub under Apache 2.0 allows any cloud provider to become an Interconnect partner, potentially broadening the ecosystem.
What This Means
For developers and enterprises, Claude Opus 4.7 on Bedrock offers a production-ready AI assistant capable of handling intricate software development tasks without human handholding. The adaptive thinking feature optimizes cost and latency by varying compute allocation per request.
AWS Interconnect’s GA creates a standardized, secure way to connect disparate cloud environments, reducing operational overhead. The last-mile connectivity option will particularly benefit organizations with distributed branch offices seeking reliable, high-bandwidth access to AWS services.
“These launches reinforce AWS’s strategy to unify AI and connectivity under a single, managed umbrella,” added Chen. “Customers get easier access to cutting-edge models and simpler network infrastructure, all with AWS-grade security.”
